So this one is one of the first I did that had this knot design. It is actually fairly easy to do, but it involves a gear-in-a-gear setup.
It is named "Hion Knot" as a reference to a book I read at the time, called "Yumi and the Nightmare Painter". It is a work by Brandon Sanderson, one of my favorite authors. In that book, the protagonist lives in a city where everything is powered by cyan and magenta cables, Those cables, called hions, create this neon light aesthetic that fits the book, since that city is perpetually in night. I wanted to do something with that idea, so I drew this one, among others.
The reason why it looks so convoluted is because of the gears: particuarly, because 14 does not neatly divide 32, nor 64 does 112. I used the 112 ring with the 72 gear, and in its 32 hole I put the 14 gear. The way I plan my art is to pair the numbers into fractions, which simplify and in the end I can predict how many "petals" a design has. Since 32/14 is equivalent to 16/7, I know that the final drawing will have 7 petals, as you can see here. More on that is described in other products!

Spirograph Creations are handmade artworks featuring geometric patterns. These designs are drawn by Leo using Fineliner markers and Wild Gears sets, resulting in either circular or asymmetrical compositions.
The artwork is created on various types of paper, both in color and texture. This selection of papers provides different textures and contrasts. A variety of colors are used, including vibrant hues and metallic inks. Each piece is unique due to the hand-drawn process.
These small-scale designs are typically framed and can be displayed on walls. The intricate patterns and color combinations offer visual interest in various interior settings.
Spirograph code: "Hion Knot" - 112/64//32/14: [+1(14)], (4) - G2023/07/02
